South Africa has come out on top of a tense match with the United States, making a winning start to the Super 8.

The United States looked to cause a major upset by chasing down 195 for victory, but South Africa 's Kagiso Rabada took three vital wickets.Australia's first match of the Super 8 s will be held on Friday morning, AEST, with live coverage on ABC Sport digital and radio.

In response, US opener Andries Gous provided the fireworks along with Harmeet Singh down the order but fast bowler Rabada picked up crucial wickets in his spell of 3-18 and restricted the run rate as the US fell short. De Kock reached his half-century in 26 balls and shared a 110-run partnership with skipper Aiden Markram off 60 deliveries.

American opener Steven Taylor underlined his intent when he smashed a boundary off the first ball, but after four fours and a six, he fell to Rabada when a mistimed shot was caught at mid-off.
