Whyalla Hospital is experiencing a critical midwifery shortage which will see parts of South Australia without birthing services this following Monday.
The crisis has prompted a redirection from health authorities urging expectant mothers to give birth at other locations.
SA Health says it is working on recruiting more midwives despite calls from unions to increase incentives as a tactic to attract workers away from the city.
