A 33-year-old man has been charged with threatening two paramedics in Adelaide with a firearm when they were called to provide medical support. The ambulance officers were called to a home at Evanston Park at 7.20pm on Sunday, April 14 to treat the 33-year-old man. “While the ambulance officers were treating the man, he allegedly produced a firearm and threatened them,” South Australia Police said. The responding paramedics called police, and the man was arrested.

The 33-year-old man was taken to hospital for medical assessment. He was later charged with two counts of threatening to kill, assaulting emergency workers and carrying an offensive weapon. SA Ambulance Service said paramedics responded to emergencies with the “best intentions” to help patients. “They cannot do this if they feel threatened or at risk. We ask that the public treat them with the respect they deserve,” a spokesperson said.
