A 2016 ruling by an international tribunal under the Law of the Sea found heavily in the Philippines’ favour, dismissing China’s maritime claims. But Beijing has never accepted the ruling. He said the strategic partnership between Australia and the Philippines had grown more important than ever, noting Australia and the US were the only two countries Manila had a visiting military forces agreement with.“We are called upon once again to join forces, together with our partners, in the face of threats to the rule of law, to stability and to peace,” Mr Marcos said.
