This could see him in play in the halves alongside Toby Sexton, while he could also be used in another role, such as the dummy-half position.

“I’m hearing that Jamie Humphreys is very, very close to agreeing to a three-year deal to go to Perth,” SMH’s Adrian Proszenko said on The Continuous Call Team’s podcast. “A big body who could potentially play in the back-row, but my understanding is he has been signed as a half.

” The update on Humphreys’ future comes after the Rabbitohs recently stalled contract talks with the playmaker, despite previously being locked in advanced negotiations with him before the arrival of Payne Haas.

“Oh yeah, of course,” Humphreys said last month when asked by foxsports.com.au if he was open to the NRL’s newest expansion side. “It’s an interesting prospect with your team coming in. What they’re building there seems really special, and I’m sure they’ll succeed. I’ve got no doubt about that with Mal leading from the front there.

“Like I said, I’m focused on my job here at Souths but of course those things are going to come up in the future as well. ”After a breakout season, which saw him represent the Australian Kangaroos and Queensland Maroons in 2025, Gehamat Shibasaki is set to be on the lookout for a new club, Shibasaki is resigned to departing the Broncos at the end of the season due to the club not having enough funds in their salary cap to retain his services.

While the centre is keen to remain at Red Hill and the club has tabled him a contract extension, it is understood that he could earn much more if he goes to market.

“Every club goes through cap challenges at some stage,” Broncos coach Michael Maguire told the publication. “But I talk about the players I would love to have at the club and keep at the club and it’s a process you have to go through. “I do hold ‘Shibba’ in high regard - he and I have a really good relationship in that regard.

“It’s nice to be able to have someone of Gem’s calibre who went on his journey last year. He has been excellent in his attitude through this period. ” Brisbane Broncos player Deine Marier has had emergency surgery in Sydney, Mariner was diagnosed with acute compartment syndrome – a severe limb-threatening condition – and underwent surgery in Sydney on Sunday morning. The Broncos could not put a timeframe on his playing return.
