Seth Warner’s goal early in the game proved to be the winner for the Spartans.
TORRANCE >> The stat sheet through the first 40 minutes of Friday’s CIF-Southern Section Division 3 boys soccer quarterfinal game between South Torrance and Agoura might lead one to believe the host Spartans were trailing at the half.
With the teams still settling in, South’s Zach Dewhirst made a low pass from the left side of the box to the far post and found Warner. After the goal, Agoura put forth a relentless attack through the remainder of the half. The Chargers owned a 9-3 shot advantage, but most of the looks were from distance.
Among them was Sosa, who found himself swarmed by two and sometimes three defenders. In the second half, South flipped the script and owned the shot advantage, 6-2.
