A loophole could result in Jack Wighton missing just two games for new club South Sydney after he was suspended for biting.
However, he won’t be getting a call-up for the Kangaroos – he was overlooked for the Prime Minister’s XIII squad named to take on PNG – following his suspension.
Meninga was never approached about the possibility of selecting Wighton for Australia, a move that would let him serve his suspension in the Tests rather than NRL games.
