“It feels like I’ve been here for a long time but it’s only been two years. It really feels like home. There are good people everywhere at the Club throughout the footy staff, the admin staff and Souths Cares.
Rabbitohs Head of Football, Mark Ellison, says both Hawkins and Chee Kam provide competition for spots in the Club’s top 17.“Dean is a quality halfback that has shown his leadership skills this season by leading the NSW Cup team to the Premiership, as well as proving he can do the job in first grade when required.“He is a South Sydney man through-and-through and we’re delighted to see him extend his time with us for another season today.
The 33-year-old recently told NRL.com he was hoping to stay at the Storm but is now likely to finish his career with the French Super League club. “Melbourne Storm has announced today second rower Tariq Sims is set to explore opportunities outside of the NRL in 2024,” The Storm said in a statement.
