SpaceX is one step closer to the first orbital test flight of its launch system Starship after a successful test of its booster, says ANU astrophysicist and cosmologist Dr Brad Tucker.
“This is what we call a static test, so it was on the ground, not all of the engines were lit up, but that’s okay, this was a big step actually to test it,” he told Sky News Australia.
“This booster, it is a gigantic booster rocket that they hope for Starship, which is the capsule that would sit on top … to be able to go eventually to the moon.” Dr Tucker said the test was important not just for the new engine but to assess an “entirely new design”. “They clearly have a few more tests to go before they do their orbital test, i.e., into space,” he said.Read More
