The search for 19-year-old Jay Slater, the 11th person to go missing on a Spanish island this year, is called off by authorities in Tenerife nearly two weeks after he was last seen.
The search for British teenager Jay Slater has been called off by Spanish authorities.: Spanish police say the case remains open and several lines of inquiry are being investigated.
Mr Slater was seen among the hordes of young tourists in Playa de las Americas in Tenerife on June 16.His phone was last traced to the Masca ravine in a remote national park in the north of the island. The search for Jay Slater focused on the Masca ravine, one of the most rugged and remote parts of the island.Some volunteers joined police and other rescue workers to form a team of more than 30 people who combed the area on Saturday.Mr Slater attended the final night of the New Rave Generation music festival at Papagayo nightclub on June 16.
At 8:15am, he phoned Ms Law to say that he was "lost in the mountains, he wasn't aware of his surroundings, he desperately needed a drink and his phone was on 1 per cent". Amid glaring neon signs, cheap alcohol and booming music, friends of missing 19-year-old Jay Slater saw him for the last time before he vanished.The last confirmed sighting of Mr Slater was by a woman whose brother owned the cottage the two festival goers Mr Slater had gone home with had been staying in.
