The five-bedroom property, which comes with a pool and tennis court, sold under the hammer to a young couple for some $485,000 above the previous record.

A five-bedroom home in Avondale Heights with a pool and tennis court sold to a young couple for $3,025,000 at auction on Saturday, smashing the suburb’s previous sales record., which was listed with a price guide of $2,350,000 to $2,585,000.

Lonzi placed a vendor bid of $2.35 million and the auction got moving, with all five parties trading $50,000 bids until the price hit $3 million. Lonzi described the home as a “lifestyle property” that had attracted interested families from across Melbourne.“It’s a really special product, bringing in a lot of people from out of the area. It’s a real lifestyle property,” he said. “I really believe the home deserved it got. It’s one of the most special homes I’ve sold.”

An investor put forward an opening offer of $501,000 before a bidding war ensued between the four parties – a mix of interstate investors and first time buyers.
