PETALING JAYA: All lawmakers will have to declare their property to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and have the information displayed for three months in public.

The motion, once passed, would compel all lawmakers, including from the Opposition to declare their property, including that of their spouses, children and trustees in a Statutory Declaration as prescribed by the Dewan Rakyat Speaker.

"The list of the members of the Dewan Rakyat who have declared their property shall be displayed on the portal of the MACC, and only the details of the declaration of the property of that members shall be posted on the portal for a period of three months from the date of receipt of the Statutory Declaration by the MACC," reads the motion which was listed first on Monday's Order Paper.

The statutory declaration was done in accordance to the code of ethics for members of the administration and lawmakers that has been displayed on the MACC portal. Liew said the special motion on asset declaration was part of the Pakatan Harapan manifesto in the last general election.
