There is public consultation open on the plan
A major road in Northampton is to have its speed limit reduced to 30mph, nine months after a "tragic accident" left a woman with life-changing injuries. Anne Hossain–Reed was crossing Towcester Road on an e-scooter when she was involved in a collision with a car in June last year. The accident left her paralysed.
READ MORE: Northampton teacher Fiona Beal's partner was found buried under bark, rubble and bricks, jury told The court heard how Unwin failed to merge into the left-hand lane as he exited the Mereway roundabout and hit Ms Hossain–Reed. The e-scooter rider was sent flying into the air before landing in the middle of the road.
The order reads: "No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 30 mph along that length of the A5123 Towcester Road, Northampton as specified in the Schedule below." The order is applicable from a point 6 metres north east of the junction with Mereway Roundabout extending 426 metres in a north easterly direction.
