Parents in Broome say, despite complaints to the high school and to police, a group of girls responsible for vicious assaults continue to terrorise students.

Marlee* was riding home from Broome Senior High School with a friend when she started to feel things being thrown at her from the back of theGirls say they have been verbally attacked, viciously assaulted and intimidated by the group

In a matter of seconds, one of the youngest girls got out of her seat, walked over to Marlee, grabbed the back of her hair, and punched her repeatedly in the face."I kind of just sat there and everyone was like, 'Are you alright?'The gang who attacked Marlee are believed to be responsible for several vicious assaults against students in the past year, which have included physical fights, verbal attacks and ongoing intimidation while at school.

"She went to school on one occasion and one of the girls walked past her and looked at her, and I had to come and pick her up from school. She couldn't stay at school any longer," she said.Find more local newsDespite repeated intervention from police and teachers, parents said students continued to deal with the violent behaviour of the same group of girls "on a daily basis".

In another incident, the local Broome Netball Association put out a warning to its players after girls were attacked on their way to training. "While most of the incidents I'm aware of have occurred away from schools, violence is taken very seriously by our school staff," Mr Butcher said. "[They're just trying] to get on with their studies … and suddenly have to deal with this random act of violence in their life that they didn't ask for."
