Spirit of Tasmania has unveiled the pet-friendly facilities which will be included in its two new ships set to travel between the Apple Isle and Victoria from next year.
Spirit of Tasmania has revealed the unique facilities which are coming to its new ships after observing"high demand from passengers wanting to holiday with their pets".
The ships will further have a secure pet kennel area, which will be separate to the vehicle decks and only able to be accessed by pet owners and Spirit of Tasmania crew. Spirit of Tasmania Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Bernard Dwyer said feedback from customers shaped the decision to provide more options for pet owners.
"We're particularly proud of the new kennels. The new kennel area will be climate-controlled and have CCTV video surveillance. Passengers will also be able to visit their pet during the sailing. The Finland-built new ships are now set to be operating in 2025, after the project was hit with cost blowouts and delays, including to port infrastructure in Tasmania.
