The second annual Alamo City High School Sports Awards were held Wednesday in front of a crowd of nearly 1,000 at the Zaragoza Theater at Six Flags.

Johnson admitted that he couldn’t watch the final moments of the NBA Draft lottery, where the Spurs won the rights to take French phenom Victor Wembanyama with the No.1 pick. UTSA coach Jeff Traylor presented the coach of the year, which went to Rihana Houy of Clark basketball. Clark went 34-3 and 16-0 in its district, beating teams by an average score of 58-37, and won the 6A State Championship.
Randolph sophomore Taylor Nunez and East Central senior Michael Pinones took home the largest awards of the evening, winning Athlete of the Year. They also earned $2,000 scholarships courtesy of Kahlig Automotive.
