Millikan’s Loyall Mouzon catches the game-winning TD and made other great plays in a win over St. Francis.
Long Beach Millikan quarterback J.P. Mialovski had tried the fade route to Loyall Mouzon once already, coming up just short on the previous play.
Holding a high-powered offense to just 17 points, St. Francis couldn’t parlay their stout defensive effort to a non-league win. Overall, Millikan limited Sanders to just 60 yards on 6 of 18 passing, neutering a key part of the St. Francis offense in no small part to Mouzon’s efforts on defense. With the passing game ineffective early on, St. Francis found success on the ground, feeding the ball to senior running back John Calmette. Turning into Sanders’ favorite target, Calmette finished with 88 yards on 19 rushes and also caught all three of Sanders’ first-half completions.
Where St. Francis found success on the ground, Millikan gained significant yardage through the air. Mialovski went 10 of 23 for 151 yards in the first half, highlighted by a 60-yard drive where he made completions of 23, 20, and 13 yards with under a minute to play in the half.
