Staff from an aged care home with the largest coronavirus outbreak in Victoria say management should not have kept personal protective equipment locked away until an outbreak occurred.
In emails seen by the ABC, one staff member said PPE was "locked in the office" and only handed out to staff after the outbreak had begun.
A spokesman from BaptCare did not deny PPE was withheld and says under Federal Government guidelines, staff are advised not to wear PPE until a positive case is recorded. "We are seeing a clear pattern emerging where facilities aren't following strict PPE practices, there's big outbreaks," she said.Cost of PPE unaffordable for some aged care providers
