A young child has been filmed in a close call with a truck after breaking free from a Melbourne childcare centre group during an excursion to a local park. 7NEWS.com.au has been told the boy roamed the streets alone for several minutes last Friday morning after a group of staff and children from The Grove Children’s Centre in Coburg visited a local park. When the group returned to the centre sometime later, one child was allegedly missing.

footage sent to 7NEWS.com.au shows a child running down an alleyway, coming to a stop near the road just as a truck drives past. The footage is time-stamped at 11.49am. 7NEWS.com.au was told the child was crying until a resident found him. In separate footage time-stamped at 11.53am, a woman, understood to be a staff member, can be seen frantically running down what appears to be the same alleyway. She runs up to another woman, pushing a pram, who is carrying the missing child in her arms.
