Alexander Bowes, who attended the Pre-School Centre, died unexpectedly on Boxing Day 2021 at the age of three
Members of Lancaster University’s Pre-School embarked on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge following Alexander Bowes' unexpected death on Boxing Day last year at the age of three. His parents Emily and Darren had lived as any other family of four with another child on the way.
The team at Lancaster University’s Pre-School, where Alexander attended, began looking at ways to raise funds for charities that were supporting the family during the tragedy. Eight staff members decided to undertake the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for SUDC UK . During the Challenge itself, the stones were placed on the trig point of each of the peaks in Alexander's memory and a cuddly Peter Rabbit, donated by Alexander’s family, was also placed on one of the trig points. The challenge was undertaken on August 27 by Team One including Samuel Thompson, Gina Shipperd, Joanne Westworth, Jenny Dugdale and Helen Isherwood.
Speaking to LancsLive in March this year, Emily said: "Alexander was a joyous little boy. He loved cars, Peter Rabbit, spending time with family, being outside. He was just a really cheeky little chap that just lit everybody up.
