We took a look at just how much Tesco Express and Tesco Superstores differ in price
Food prices have reached record highs in recent months, making it more expensive than ever for families to do their weekly shop.
Tesco Express stores are known as ‘convenience stores’ which sell a smaller range of items and aren’t typically designed for people to do their full weekly shop. However, many families rely on smaller shops to buy essential items, including people who don’t drive or have mobility issues.We compared the prices of the same essential items from the Tesco Express store on the Strand in Liverpool city centre to the Tesco Superstore on Hanover Street, which are just 10 minutes apart from each other.
The price difference for a jar of Kenco coffee was even more stark, coming in at £6.90 in Tesco Express compared to £5.49 in the Tesco Superstore. Next up was another essential that many people buy on a weekly basis - a six pack of eggs. Other items included Tesco branded salted and unsalted butter which cost £2 in the Tesco Express compared to £1.79 in the Tesco Superstore.
