The Easter holiday period shapes as the make or break period for aviation as renewed uncertainty hangs over the sector’s recovery efforts.
For Qantas, analysts at Morgan Stanley project this will subtract $340 million from its earnings in the second half of the financial year, dragging on any recovery made after last year’s delta lockdowns.
Airline lobby group the International Air Transport Association says its global airline price index rose 5.8 per cent in the first half of January as omicron fears eased. However, the growth is concentrated in European and North American markets.Shares of European airlines rose the most significantly in January , driven by renewed optimism about the industry’s recovery, IATA said.
