Bol, who started from scratch, overtook eight runners en route to second place. The winner gets $5000 and second place $2500. The wild weather meant a halt in proceedings at Stawell, with the men’s and women’s gift finals still to be run. The event was paused as lightning, thunder and sheeting rain – 35mm in half an hour – hit the meeting.
