“I realized that these guys are never going to quit,” coach Troy Taylor said after comeback from 29-0 deficit

Whether it was getting run off the field against USC or allowing late touchdowns to lose to Sacramento State and Arizona, first-year Stanford coach Troy Taylor would spend a lot of the postgame talking to his players to make sure they weren’t demoralized.
“Guys easily could have kind of given up a little bit,” Taylor said. “But they have never done that since I’ve been here and I’m just really proud. I tell them they inspire me. This is an inspiring group. I’ve never been around this quality of a group of men that just give everything they’ve got regardless of what they’re going against.”
“You just really saw his confidence come alive after that first touchdown,” Taylor said. “The thing is, people aren’t going to remember he had a 70-yarder that was in his hands. And a lot of people could go into the tank and that would be it. But he didn’t do that. He responded. You know, we had a brief conversation afterwards. And I could see in his eyes that he was totally engaged and ready to continue to compete and put together a really epic performance.
Daniels was 5 of 14 for 32 yards passing in the first half and was sacked three times, but went 22 of 31 for 364 yards and four TDs after halftime and didn’t take a sack.
