A NSW government spokeswoman indicated it was unlikely to provide the requested assistance, saying it was the responsibility of the Star “to maintain the financial viability of its business”. “The NSW government’s assessment is that any NSW taxpayer assistance would primarily support the Star’s Queensland expansions,” she said.
The report was scathing of Star’s previous board and management, but Mr Bell said he was confident the company’s new leaders, including Mr McCann, who turned around rival Crown Resorts, would repair its culture.
