Luke Nolen, renowned for his association with champion mare Black Caviar, was rushed to hospital after a fall during a race at Geelong. Nolen, 44, suffered nose and teeth injuries and possible concussion, leading to a potential two-week absence from racing.

Star jockey Luke Nolen has been taken to hospital after a nasty fall at Geelong on Thursday. Nolen, most famous for his association with champion mare Black Caviar , crashed to the turf at the top of the straight when he fell from his mount, Draw Attention, during the second race. Draw Attention was at the back of the field when the incident happened, which may have saved Nolen from further damage. The 44-year-old was conscious as medics rushed to the scene to help.

Nolen was eventually taken to hospital with the Victorian Jockey Association saying he suffered nose and teeth injuries. He also had a “suggested concussion and sore lower back”, according to the VJA. Draw Attention was not injured in the incident. If scans confirm a concussion for Nolen then he will automatically be ruled out of for two weeks, which includes Saturday’s Ballarat Cup where he was booked to ride on fancy Berkeley Square.
