Eva said that what happened to her is “just one of many recent instances of anti-Palestine actions carried out by Australian institutions” and that she would continue to wear her keffiyeh despite the “distressing experience”, as it is a “symbol of peace and solidarity”. “The library does not condone discrimination on the grounds of cultural dress … We have taken immediate action and have spoken to the security guard about this incident.”In a statement to Guardian Australia, a library spokesperson said: “We support free and open access to books and information, and we strive to create a space where everyone feels safe and welcome.
