Victoria has declared a state of disaster for six local government areas with Premier Daniel Andrews saying the fire risk is “unprecedented” as he announced a second person has been confirmed dead.

The six local government areas affected are the East Gippsland Shire, the Mansfield Shire, the Wellington Shire, the Wangaratta Rural Shire, the Towong Shire, the Alpine Shire, and the Mt Bulla, Mt Hotham, Mt Sterling alpine resorts.
