It comes into force from April
From April, a series of Government payment increases will come into force - including State Pension - which is set to increase by 10.1 per cent for around 12.6 million people across the UK. However, according to reports, despite a record-breaking rise in payments of the contributory benefit, an estimated 1.8 million pensioners are receiving State Pension payments of less than £100 per week.

Again, the vast majority of these are women who have accrued large gaps in their National Insurance contribution history due to time taken away from the workforce to care for family.”
Pension Credit is a retrospective benefit, which means it can be backdated by three months and no qualifying period has been announced for the first payment yet, but new claim submitted this month stands a good chance of being eligible for the £301. In total, eligible pensioners could be due up to £1,350 in additional support through cost of living payments.
