The influence of The Everest continues to grow around the country and racing officials in other jurisdictions are set to further embrace the phenomenon.
Racing officials around the country are set to go all in on the phenomenon of The Everest as the start of a three-week celebration of the sport, which would conclude with the Melbourne Cup, from next year.
“The Melbourne Racing Club is so progressive and has embraced The Everest so that we have been able to make it the biggest Saturday of racing in the country,” Racing NSW chief executive Peter V’landys said. “It is what other states can do as well with Everest and Melbourne Cup days. The Melbourne Cup is one of biggest days of the year, but for a Saturday, the Everest and Caulfield combine to stand above everything else. It’s good for racing around the country because we have the eyes of the sporting nation on us.”MRC chief executive Josh Blanksby said Caulfield had seen direct benefits from partnering with The Everest meeting.
