AFL: The Fox Footy panel discuss Marcus Windhager's tag on Nick Daicos and get Collingwood coach Craig McRae's thoughts on it.
Nick Daicos’ fiery duel with St Kilda gun Marcus Windhager on Saturday night has reignited debate over the boundaries of tagging, with claims the Saint went “outside the code” to try clamp the superstar., Windhager’s shadowing of Daicos began from the very first bounce — with his niggling and nagging catching the eye of Fox Footy experts post-game.
“This is the sort of stuff that’s going on. Little knees to the back of the hamstrings. I think that’s too far,” King began on Super Saturday Live. King’s comments came with overlay footage appearing to show Windhager subtly kneeing Daicos off-the-ball — contact that was minor in force, but could prompt the AFL to address any Collingwood concerns.
“I just loved how Nick got on with it tonight ... some weeks they can run with you, some weeks they can’t. Again tonight, I think Nick won that battle.”
