Stephen King encourages horror fans to watch the MGM+ original series From, which contains classic King elements from past work and is deemed scary.

After praising From, Stephen King is now encouraging more viewers to watch the horror series. From tells the story of characters who find themselves trapped in a town they cannot leave, and every night, terrifying monsters emerge from the forest and try to kill the townspeople. The mysteries surrounding the town, the monsters, and other mystical forces become more intriguing and more intricate as the series progresses and moves toward the conclusion of season 2.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Despite its many strengths, From is not as well-known as some other horror series, but King is using his platform on Twitter to bring more attention to it. Read his tweet below: In May 2023, King previously gave his seal of approval to From while sharing a theory that answers the show's overarching mystery. He also praised a particularly impactful scene in which one of the characters is found alive but nailed to a tree with a spike through her head.

How From Is Similar To Stephen King Stories From takes place in a small rural town plagued by monsters and unexplainable phenomena. The monsters' greatest strength is not their ability to eat people or make themselves look like humans, but their greatest strength is the fear they instill in the townspeople. Instead of relying on jump scares and gratuitous gore, From relies on psychological horror and the emotional toll living in the nightmarish town takes on its characters.

The characters and themes in From are also reminiscent of King's past works. Sheriff Boyd Stevens – played by Lost's Harold Perrineau – is a reluctant hero and leader, akin to Stu Redman in The Stand. The Stand is one of numerous King stories that explore the power of faith and religion in the face of unimaginable terror. In From, this role is primarily filled by Father Khatri, a priest with a troubled past who becomes a spiritual guide for Boyd and the rest of the townspeople.
