Viewers think Coogan should be showered with awards - but that's not why he took on the harrowing role
Steve Coogan has been met with applause ever since The Reckoning aired on BBC One and was released on BBC iPlayer.
Later defending himself for taking on the controversial part, he appeared on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, explaining why the part was interesting for him as an actor. Reflecting on what he hopes people take away from the series, he said: “The point that I hope people will take away is that they learn to listen to victims and survivors, and learn to take these things seriously. If you treat people with respect and we act together then you can avoid something like this from happening in the future.”
@Lshire_Laird said: "Steve Coogan is giving the performance of his career in The Reckoning . The resemblance to Saville’s mannerisms is uncanny. I can’t help think that it must have taken its toll on Steve Coogan because some of the scenes are sinister and hard to stomach."
