Stevie Nicks said she sees 'no reason' for Fleetwood Mac to continue on after the death of member Christine McVie.

"When Christine died, I felt like you can't replace her. You just can't. Without her, what is it? You know what I mean?" Nicks said. "She was like my soul mate, my musical soul mate, and my best friend that I spent more time with than any of my other best friends outside of Fleetwood Mac," she continued. "Christine was myNicks then referred to Taylor Swift's song "You're on Your Own, Kid" -- specifically the lyric "You're on your own, kid / You always have been" -- saying she and McVie related to that line.
"We were on our own in that band. We always were. We protected each other," she reflected. "When she died, I figured we really can't go any further with this. There's no reason to." McVie, who wrote the songs "Don't Stop" and "You Make Loving Fun" off the iconic Fleetwood Mac album "Rumours," died in November 2022 at the age of 79.in a social media post at the time, calling McVie "my best friend in the whole world" and signing the note, "See you on the other side, my love. Don't forget me."
