The Jaguars' defensive line enjoyed one of its best recent games last month against Indianapolis. Here's how they're planning to make Sunday's game a repeat performance.
Jaguars focused on stopping run, Key set for expanded role
"We got to stop the run ... I'm sure they've seen what we've been doing the last two weeks, giving up that run a little bit, so I'm sure they [are] gonna feed the workhorse this Sunday coming up and we got to be ready to stop that," Key said in the locker room Wednesday. Key will have an opportunity to have a bit more fun moving forward, at least through the next several weeks due to the expanded role he is set to receive.
Though Key has primarily played in four-man fronts, and particularly on the interior of a DL over the past couple of seasons, he entered the league out of LSU as an edge player, an OLB in a 3-4 defense. Signing with Jacksonville this year, Key saw that as an opportunity to get back to doing that, and now will have a chance to showcase his skills at the position.
Though Quinton Nelson, Ryan Kelly and Braden Smith remain, the team has had issues at other positions, including both tackle positions. Raimann, a third-round rookie out of Central Michigan, was brought in to replace former Colts LT Eric Fisher, who struggled last year and was ultimately not re-signed by the team this offseason.
Jaguars rookie outside linebacker Travon Walker echoed Allen's sentiments Thursday, noting the Colts are moving pieces on their OL around, but the team isn't taking them for granted.
