Meteorologists are expected to name a front of low pressure as Storm Agnes
Gales of up to 80mph are set to sweep across the UK this week, with a weather warning put in place for Nottinghamshire. Weather maps show a band of low pressure sweeping across the Atlantic Ocean to eventually "pack a punch of gales or severe gales across the north and west on Wednesday".
Windy weather is predicted to hit Nottinghamshire over the next few days. The Met Office outlook for Wednesday to Friday says: "Dry and bright start Wednesday, before wet and windy weather quickly sweeps northeastwards later, with gales likely, clearing overnight."Sunshine and showers following Thursday and Friday. Windy and staying mild." Wind gusts are expected to peak in Nottinghamshire on Wednesday night, reaching speeds of 40mph.
Brian Gaze, forecaster for Weather Outlook, said: "The advice at this stage is to stay up to date with the short range forecasts through the coming days. There is a real possibility that storm Agnes could arrive during the middle part of next week."
