NRL: Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett and Jesse Bromwich front the media after their Round 27 loss to Newcastle Knights.
The Brisbane Broncos have reportedly shown interest in signing Melbourne Storm veteran prop Christian Welch for the 2025 NRL season.
Welch is under contract with the Storm until the end of 2026 with a mutual option for that season, but he can negotiate with rivals from November 1 this year. However, the Storm welcome former Tigers prop Stefano Utoikamanu next season and have starters Nelson Asofa-Solomona , Josh King and Tui Kamikamica on their books.
Welch, 30, is a former Storm captain and has played 161 games for the club since his debut in 2015, while he has also played six Origins for the Maroons. However, he has seen his role switched to a bench option in recent times and the Storm could ease salary cap space by letting him leave early to join the Broncos.
