National Weather Service officials were expecting two to four inches of snow accumulations in portions of central, north central, northeast Illinois, and northwest Indiana beginning to fall Tuesday evening.

An Alberta Clipper dropping through the Northern High Plains, Upper Mississippi Valley and into the Upper Great Lakes region will usher in areas of light snow. Temperatures will generally be below average across most of the Intermountain West and the southern Plains, with above normal temperatures for much of the eastern third of the nation going through midweek, weather officials said.
Current temperatures for the Chicago area reported at O’Hare International Airport registered at 33 degrees with increasing clouds until snow begins once temps fall to 31 degrees.
