The Water Appeals Commissioned raised doubts about DAERA's ability to call an inquiry over water licences for the mine that have been 'deemed refused'
Stormont officials "did not intend to mislead" a pre-public inquiry meeting about Dalradian Gold's application to mine in the Sperrin Mountains, says Stormont 's environment minister.
An April 25 update to the Planning Appeals Commission website page for the application stated "the public inquiries in relation to the abstraction and impound licence applications can no longer form part of the current conjoined public inquiry which is expected to open on 10th September 2024". "Therefore my Department did not have the power to direct the WAC to hold a public local inquiry in respect of these applications on the 5th November 2021."
"DAERA officials recognise the fundamental importance of the Commission being able to rely on the factual accuracy of answers.
