Severe storms are bearing down on south-east Queensland, threatening winds, hailstones and more heavy rainfall, the Bureau of Meteorology warns, just a week after devastating floods.
A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for a large stretch of the southern Queensland coast, including areas hit by last week's floods.
Further north, at Pomona on the Sunshine Coast, Peta Hempsall captured the moment a lightning bolt appeared to hit Mount Cooroora. Queensland's south-east is still recovering after days of heavy rain that flooded creeks and rivers and flowed into houses. There's a risk heavy rainfall on saturated areas could cause flash flooding.
Flood debris is lying in suburban streets waiting to be taken to landfill — Australian Defence Force will join Brisbane City Council workers to remove the rubbish in the days ahead.
