Fans of the show were smitten with the friendship coupling so it was only a matter of time before fan fiction about Steve and Eddie aka 'Steddie' began to appear online, with some fans hoping the pair were more than just friends.:"All I can say is... how did they know?"
"Well, you know, just… people can dream, I guess," he joked."I dunno! I don't really know what to say to that." The star was then asked if he thought a romantic relationship could have been written into season 5 had his character not died.
