Strict measures are being considered
to close down a number of Ashfield alleyways and stop crime. If the public back the new plans, eight locations in Hucknall, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield will see alleyways either closed or their access restricted.
The council are planning to close the service road off Outram Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield, at one side and install CCTV on the other, with full closures proposed elsewhere. The Public Spaces Protection Order being proposed is intended to restrict public access in the below locations:Councillor David Hennigan, who represents Sutton Central and New Cross on Ashfield District Council, said: "These closures will positively improve the quality of lives for hundreds of residents.
