The struggling Saskatchewan Rush will play Friday night in San Diego.
The Rush will play the host San Diego Seals on Friday night, and here’s some things to know heading into the contest.While the Rush are 3-7 and near the bottom of the National Lacrosse League’s West Division, San Diego is enjoying life at the top. The Seals lead the West Division, ahead of 6-3 Colorado.
Only one West team — the Panther City Lacrosse Club out of Fort Worth, Tex. — has a worse record than Saskatchewan. They’re 3-8.The Rush are coming off a 17-16 overtime road loss to Panther City. Saskatchewan scored twice in the final 34 seconds of regulation to send the game to overtime, but Will Malcolm was the hero for the hosts when he notched his fifth goal of the night in the extra session.
San Diego, meanwhile, beat the Calgary Roughnecks 9-4 this past weekend in a game that saw Seals goalie Frank Scigliano stop 50 shots. Scigliano leads the NLL with a 7.73 goals-against average, and is second with an .817 save percentage.This is the second of three meetings between the two teams this season. San Diego won the first, 12-11, on Jan. 14, and they’ll meet again April 23 in Saskatoon.Saskatchewan has won three of five games all-time against the Seals, who joined the NLL in 2018-19.
They return home March 19 against Rochester, the first of five straight home dates that also includes March 26 against Calgary, April 9 against Vancouver, April 16 against Colorado and the aforementioned April 23 contest against San Diego.
