West Australian students and teachers begin to claw back a sense of normality after isolation rules and other COVID restrictions threw schools into disarray in term one.
"Being able to have the P&C meetings in place should be able to bring a lot of those new parents back into the school community a bit more."Parents have also been welcomed back to indoor and outdoor sporting events, performances and other inter-school events as long as they wear masks and practice social distancing.
And with close contacts now limited to household contacts, a positive case in the classroom can no longer send dozens of students into isolation."I think people are pretty relieved really, and ready to get back to a bit of normality even though we've got to be cautious," she said. It's welcome news for Year 5 student Luna O'Halloran with a camp on the horizon. Her mum Julia said she felt now was the right time for the other changes to be made too.
Olena Yukhymets was supportive too after missing the chance to walk her daughter to the door of her Year 1 classroom last term."There was a bit of a disconnect with teachers as well," she said."It's going to help us feel more at home at school."Watch
