A student gunman opened fire at a university in the Russian city of Perm on Monday, killing eight people and injuring six others, the Investigative Committee of Russia reported.
The shooter was detained shortly after the incident at Perm State University, which is around 900 miles from the capital Moscow. The SKR, the agency that handles probes into major crimes, reported that the shooter had been"neutralized" and detained. Video footage from the scene showed students jumping from the first floor of the school building to the ground and fleeing for their safety.
