Group representing 40,000 Northern Ireland secondary school students has hit out at attempts to “flare tensions” around updates to the relationship and sex education curriculum.
Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Chris Heaton-Harris, ushered in the new rules on June 5 in the absence of an Executive. But the DUP is campaigning against the move with Jonathan Buckley saying “radical, woke agendas are yet again interfering in Northern Ireland politics”. President Ellen Taylor says this ‘fear-mongering’ ignores the voices of young people and those who work with them, who have been calling for RSE reform for years.“What’s introduced will be age-appropriate, scientifically accurate and unbiased.
