The images were taken by LancsLive's Jason Roberts, during his time as a photographer for the Liverpool Echo.
In 2016 the Echo had commissioned a pilot to take Jason up into the skies above the North West in order to document the landscape of the paper's patch. Jason flew from Blackpool and took a series of aerial photographs of Southport as the plane made its way to Merseyside.In his photos, Jason captured several iconic Southport landmarks, including the under-threat pier - the second longest in the UK - as well as the Marine Lake and Princes Park.
Also pictured is Pleasureland. The park originally operated from 1913 to 2006 under the ownership of the Blackpool Pleasure Beach company, and then re-opened in 2007 under the ownership of Norman Wallis.
