New signs say the restaurant is about to become something else entirely
Merseyside diners have hailed it "a shame" after a restaurant and cocktail bar loved by Steven Gerrard closed its doors.
Tibu Bar and Eatery, on Chapel Lane in Formby, offered "internationally inspired" cuisine. It opened back in the summer of 2021, and was run by Tibu Pinedo.READ MORE: Mum put message in WhatsApp chat and things escalated quickly Speaking to the ECHO when Tibu opened, Mr Pinedo said: "I have now decided to open my own restaurant and cocktail bar in the heart of Formby Village and I am excited about hopefully meeting some of you soon.
“My philosophy is to always try our very best to source our produce locally and employ local staff; even our head chef Nick was born and bred in Formby! All of our food is freshly prepared.Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard seemed to be a fan of the restaurant, posting a number of photos from Tibu on his Instagram over the years.
The signage reads: "Coming soon: The Auld Dubliner. Ales, Stouts, Guinness, Live Sport, Live Music, Pool and Darts." Reacting to the news on neighbourhood app NextDoor, one Formby resident said: "Such a shame. Think my husband and I will be going to Liverpool a lot more but we love Left Bank too". A second said: "Sad times, loved it in there".Receive newsletters with the latest news, sport and what's on updates from the Liverpool ECHO by signing up here
