That's an extremely unusual weather event for this time of year, having only happened about three times in February throughout the past 16 years.
The SES received 100 calls for help in Melbourne yesterday after the icy blast hit, with properties damaged and trees tipped over by the wind.Weatherzone reported the chilly temperatures would continue through Australia's south-east today, with further snow flurries possible in the aptly-named Snowy Mountains in NSW.It's a different story in Brisbane, where high humidity levels are driving a heatwave into the weekend.
