Defence Secretary Grant Shapps is speaking to Sky News on Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips as Russian forces tighten their grip on Ukraine's Kharkiv region. Also on the show are shadow health secretary Wes Streeting and businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
The first guest on this morning's edition of Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips is Defence Secretary Grant Shapps. We start by asking about the infected blood scandal ahead of the publication of the public inquiry's final report tomorrow.Mr Shapps agrees with Trevor Phillips that failing to acknowledge the scandal and pay compensation to victims is one of the most shameful failures of government in our lifetimes.
Tomorrow's report, he says, is 'very important' because it will allow the pain and losses of so many families to finally be acknowledged, and for the government to properly respond.Trevor puts it to Mr Shapps that the government has known for years about the scandal and it has taken far too long for proper compensation to be paid.
